■About the Finish of source’s Wooden Furniture

●Series with PU Finish

The finish of the furniture includes a protective coating applied to the wood’s surface. source’s furniture is available with either PU or oil finishes.

PU finishing involves spraying a hard polyurethane resin to coat the wood’s surface, creating a durable protective layer. This finish is resistant to water and stains, making daily maintenance easier. Many of source’s series are finished with PU coating.

●Series with Oil Finish

Oil finishing involves applying plant-based oils that penetrate the wood, creating a finish without forming a coating on the surface. This method allows you to feel the natural texture of the wood, with a pleasant, smooth touch and a natural appearance. While regular maintenance is required, the furniture gains character over time, and minor scratches or stains can be repaired at home. With proper care, it can be enjoyed for many years.

■How to Care and Maintenance

<For PU Finish>

●Daily Maintenance

Use a soft cloth, wet it with water, and wring it out well before wiping off any dirt. Then, use a dry cloth to remove any remaining moisture.

For tough stains like grease, wipe with a cloth dipped in diluted mild dish soap (about 3% concentration). After that, wipe again with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap, and finish by drying with a dry cloth.

Avoid using chemical cleaning cloths, as they can cause small scratches.

●Use for a Long Time and Keep It Beautiful

Avoid leaving dirt or moisture on the surface for long periods. Also, since the material is sensitive to heat, do not place kettles or pots directly on it.

When dining, using table mats, placemats, or coasters will help protect the surface from stains and scratches, making it last longer.

<For Oil Finish>

●Daily Maintenance

Gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If the surface is noticeably dirty, use a cloth dampened with water and wrung out thoroughly, then wipe again with a soft, dry cloth.

Leaving moisture on the surface may cause stains, so be sure to wipe off any remaining water completely. As with PU finishes, avoid using chemical cleaning cloths, as they may alter the gloss of the finish.

●About Maintenance

Oil gradually evaporates, causing the wood to dry out. If you notice dryness, perform regular maintenance with oil.

A lack of oil can lead to roughness, warping, or cracking of the wood. To prevent this, we recommend maintenance once every six months to a year.

<Maintenance Step>

●Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe off dust and dirt.

●Sand the surface with sandpaper. If you want to repair deeper scratches, use a coarser grit sandpaper. Wrap the sandpaper around a piece of wood that fits comfortably in your hand, and gently sand the surface in a sweeping motion.

●After removing the wood dust, apply oil along the wood grain, rubbing it in gently. Apply the oil in small amounts, spreading it thinly. Be careful not to apply too much, as it may cause unevenness.

<Caution>

Cloths used for oil finishing should never be left unattended. Wet them thoroughly with water, seal them in a plastic bag, and dispose of them with burnable trash. If left unattended, they may catch fire due to the presence of oxygen.

Do not use alcohol disinfectants on the surface of the table, as alcohol can cause a chemical reaction with the finish. This also applies to other chemicals like thinners or benzene. Be cautious with melamine sponges, sandpaper, or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the finish.
